Do you find it hard to make business decisions?
I am often being asked by business owners how they know if they are going,to make the right decisions in business. “what do you think I should do”, ‘am I on the right track”, “do I need to employee someone to help with ?…”
If you are feeling frustrated in business or life or finding it hard to make decisions, rest assured it’s quite normal! It can be hard to know which way to go, what to do or not to do in business. Should you add that new product? Should you stop providing a service? Should you start a marketing campaign? All these types of questions can be worked through with some further questioning, but if you do a little soul-searching, you will get a much better outcome.
Ask yourself what you want your business to look like in 6 months, 2 years and 5 years time. At these different stages, what do you want to be spending your time doing? What products or services is the business offering? Who is your team (internal or external) around you? What kinds of clients/customers are you working with? Get a really clear picture with lots of details around what the business looks like at those times.
Once you have taken the time to determine these things, you will have a much clearer vision of where the business needs to go. This will allow you to make decisions more easily, as you will know what needs to align to make those things happen. You will also have a lot more satisfaction that the time, energy and resources you are putting into your business is all worth it, as it’s moving towards your business vision.
It’ also really important to take time to think about WHY you want to achieve those things. What will it mean to you if the business becomes everything that you dream it will be. Is it more time with your family? More time for holidays? Less stress as you have a competent and trusted team? Is it better cashflow and profitability so you can do the things you want to do without financial stress?
If you link the WHY you want to achieve something to the WHAT – you will naturally be more inclined to do what is required to make those things happen.
So do yourself a favour, take the time to determine what you really want from your business, and why you want that. It will give you the clarity you need to make great decisions going forward!
